Crocus Obedience and
Kennel Club is a very active training club, holding classes
for handling and all levels of obedience four nights a week. There are
three sessions (usually 10 weeks each) of classes. The membership is
also involved in other aspects of dog training - Flyball racing, Agility, and Performance Drill Team.
The
club hosts a variety of events, both competitive and educational. In addition to
the annual show (held in February), sanction and correctional fun matches are
held frequently, a Flyball tournament is hosted each year, and an AAC agility trial
is also held annually.
There
are special events as well at the club, such as seminars in obedience and
agility.
Our
club’s success is measured in part by the success of its members, whose
achievements often gain national recognition. Each year, a number of members and
their dogs place in the national obedience and breed group standings. Others
are recognized as outstanding breeders or promoters of
their breed. Still others excel in scent hurdle and Flyball racing by making a
strong contribution to the success of their team. Every accomplishment by a club
member, whether it be a title, degree or qualifying score is worthy or
recognition.
The
club is active in the community with public events such as Dog
Daze,
promotional booths at local and rural fairs, home, and
school and
day care visits, as well as other presentations at various events as
requested, all with the purpose of promoting the advantages
responsible pet ownership.
